Photos of Beelgara Estate

Overview

Beelgara Estate was originally built in 1926 by Italian immigrants - the Rossetto family in Australia's Riverina.

In 2001 the Toohey family purchased the winery and renamed it Beelgara Estate after its winery vineyard. John Toohey & his son Peter Toohey, have a serious commitment to premium wine making. Significant investment has been made in winery technology. Beelgara is now ranked as Australia's 20th largest winemaker.

Beelgara Estate Winery is located in the village of Beelbangera, just outside to town of Griffith in the heartland of the Riverina district in New South Wales. The region has long dry summers - highly suitable for grape growing. Rainfall occurs in winter and spring and during the summer growing system water is supplemented in the vineyards using high technology drip irrigation.

While Beelgara Estate has a rich resource in quality fruit from the Riverina - it sources cool climate parcels of wine from Clare, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra and Yarra Valley to build a true Australian offer across premium wine regions.

Beelgara Estate crushed 12,000 tonne of premium grapes in vintage 2008. The winery has modern chilled stainless steel tanks that preserve the fruit characters of our premium grape varieties. Rod Hooper heads the wine making team and is well known as an award winning wine makers, previously holding senior positions at Penfolds, Charles Sturt University, Goundrey & Hardys.

Beelgara Estate Wines are widely available in our home market of Australian and throughout Europe & Asia.
